Shipping Law
Description
The Shipping Law module aims to give students a thorough introduction to International Maritime Law, and an overview of the national and international framework of shipping, including commonly used contracts for the sale of ships, chartering and transportation of cargo. The challenges of jurisdiction and choice of law are discussed. The Shipping Law module also covers the topics of general contract law in shipping, mandatory and non-mandatory rules relating to shipowners' and charterers' liabilities, the rules and laws that apply in case of environmental damage and oil spills. Additionally students will learn the general and specific limitation rules that apply in situations of cargo/passenger liability, salvage, collision, etc.
